Overview

New Edge Concrete built the foundation for this detached ADU on a steep hillside lot in Lafayette in 2026. The site falls away sharply from the road, and everything — machines, material, and spoils — had to move through a single narrow street-side access. We cut and graded the building pad into the slope, ran erosion control along the street frontage, and hauled the spoils out to trucks staged at the curb. From there we drilled the pier foundations and formed a stepped stem-wall foundation that follows the grade: a full perimeter wall with interior bearing walls and pilasters dividing the footprint, footings stepping down in tiers so every run stays level, and anchor bolts set for the framing above. What started as a slope came out of it as a level, ready-to-frame platform with a clean crawlspace underneath.
